How did the WMS start?
The Writer’s Marketing School was founded by Rebecca Harding, after she saw how difficult writers found marketing (especially since the world became digital) and was regularly being asked by writers for help, training and advice.
She is a professional writer and an author herself. She has been published as a journalist and a business author and trained in creative writing at Oxford University.
Becca is a professional member of a number of writing associations (Society of Authors, National Union of Journalists, Writers Guild of Great Britain.)
As the founder of an internationally successful marketing consultancy, she is an expert in digital marketing and business development for businesses worldwide.
Becca is the right person to help authors and founded this site in order to support as many as possible.
BECCA AT THE SOCIETY OF WOMEN WRITERS AND JOURNALISTS
Becca was chairman of the Society of Women Writers and Journalists (SWWJ), an international, professional association of writers.
During her time at the SWWJ, Becca worked with many authors, current president, Dame Floella Benjamin, and patrons Sir Tim Rice, Simon Brett, Lady Sandra Howard and Lord Stockton.
The Society was established as part of the Suffragette movement in the UK in the late 1800’s. Over the years it has involved the likes of George Bernard Shaw, Nina Bawden, Clemence Dane, Joyce Grenfell, Dame Vera Brittain and comedian Victoria Wood.
“I have worked with many authors and writers and have seen how hard they find it to market themselves and their books or writing.
I want to help them be successful. I want their writing to receive the recognition it deserves.”
- Becca Harding
